Q1. What kind of schools would need the Musikschule Program?
A1. Every school that has a certain requirement towards the quality of music tutors, and would like courses to operate smoothly in terms of administration, can consider the Musikschule Program.
Q2. How does the Musikschule Program Hong Kong meet the needs of particular schools?
A2. Our education and administrative staff members all graduated from university studying music, with performance diplomas. They also have experience on planning music courses for various schools in Hong Kong, as well as abundant musical knowledge and administrative experience; we would love to talk to the teacher in charge in every school, since they understand the school’s culture and style very well. During our conversation we should construct the musical training and development plans that are the most suitable for each school.
Q3. What qualifications do the tutors of the Musikschule Program hold?
A3. The tutors’ personal musical skills are essential. Our tutors are all educated in higher education institutes either in Hong Kong or overseas, such as the Department of Music of Hong Kong Baptist University and Chinese University Hong Kong, as well as Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. The majority of our tutors have obtained a Bachelor or Master of Music. Besides, tutors’ attendance and their passion in education are also important to us, to ensure that the classes can operate smoothly according to the plan.
Q4. How do parents know students’ learning outcomes?
A4. Tutors would record the content of classes and practice in a weekly journal. We encourage parents to check the students’ learning progress; apart from that, tutors will send out assessment report cards every half-term or end of term. The assessment report card includes various aspects, such as performance skills and learning attitude; parents are also welcomed to call us or text us on Whatsapp to check students’ learning progress. If it is possible, we are happy to arrange end of year concerts with schools. Each student can perform in school at the concert before the summer holidays, to share the learning outcomes after a year with parents, teachers and their peers!
Q5. Can students who joined the Musikschule Program also join examinations outside of school?
A5. Students who would like to take examinations can join our exam group classes. The class content would mainly be based on the examination content of the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music (aka ABRSM) (Western music) and Central Conservatory of Music (Chinese music). Piano accompaniment is included in Western musical instrument classes, so that students do not need to look for another piano tutor when exam approaches. After classes began, tutors would examine the level of exam that students are able to take, and we would register them into examinations. Apart from the fee from the exam boards, we do not charge any extra administration fees.
Q6. How would the Musikschule Program help if schools would like to establish their own ensemble groups? Which kinds of group should be planned first, and how would instrument classes keep up with that?
A6. First of all, we will find out the schools’ attitude and aspirations in terms of music group performances and competitions, according to the schools’ existing resources, and then recommend them which kinds of ensemble groups (for example wind band, percussion group, strings band, orchestra, Chinese orchestra, or any kinds of ensemble groups) they can establish. And then, we will appoint a suitable conductor to train the school ensembles, and set a training target for the whole year, so that the ensembles would develop and improve efficiently. Training new talents for ensembles is also one of the important function of instrument classes. Our tutors will recommend talented students to join school teams.
Q7. In terms of the financial and administrative aspects of the program, how does the Musikschule Program work with the school?
A7. We have various plans, however we can also arrange particular plans to suit each school’s administrative pattern after discussing with the teacher in charge.
Q8. If the music teachers or extra-curricular teachers would like to participate in the program, would the Musikschule Program still suitable?
A8. Of course it is, our process of recruiting tutors are strict (please refer to A2), and this already solves the problem of recruiting outside music tutors. Our administrative support can be adjusted according to the school’s expectation, to ensure that the program is carried out in school in the most efficient way.
Q9. If schools would like to appoint a particular teacher, and he/she is not a member of the Musikschule Program, will the recommendation be accepted?
A9. Of course we will accept recommendation, as long as that teacher is willing to accept our expectation towards attendance and teaching requirements, we are happy to work with him/her, and invite him/her to join our team.
Q10. Can schools customize their class timetable?
A10. Of course. Schools can set the timetable for the classes, and we can appoint tutors as soon as possible. Another way is that schools can provide us the school calendar, and we can organize the timetable before sending it to the schools for approval.
